Friendly Dog Rules Reminder

Just a friendly reminder to our community that dogs need to be on a leash at all times and are prohibited from being on the beach between 9am and 7pm during the peak holiday period DEC-FEB.

Wildlife is one of the favourite aspects of our Shoreham sanctuary and unfortunately a wallaby has been killed as a dog chased the wallaby into the water which resulted in its drowning. Since then there has been a report of 3 off leash dogs running into the dunes who then flushed out a Wallaby and along the beach . Remember over the Spring- Summer nesting period, Red Hooded Plovers ( endangered) come to our beaches within the” seagrass to nest “. We implore you to prevent your dogs and children from running up into these areas which often are cordoned off and signposted . Please keep to the shoreline and avoid the dunes when setting up your beach camps.

Thanks in advance to all. Please check all clearly signed areas leading to our beaches for directions.
