Calling for volunteers
Shoreham volunteers will be cooking our famous sausages at the Shoreham market on Sunday morning, 18 January!
By Kathie Sampson
I have met more community members manning the BBQ at the Shoreham Market than in any other forum. There’s something about frying onions, turning snags and asking ‘white bread or brown?’ that really breaks down barriers. It’s huge fun.
This year I joined the SCA Committee. Little did I know how much this small group of volunteers does: from revegetation to drainage, from organising events (film night, Melbourne Cup, winter solstice dinner, gardening workshops) to AED installation and maintenance, from community activities like ‘Meet the Neighbours’ to lobbying Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, securing grants and supporting other local groups.
We are constantly looking for new ways to maintain our beautiful environment and support the unique community that we all love BUT we cannot do it without your help!
Whether it’s BBQ duty, weeding, planting, baking a cake or just turning up and offering to help at an event, we ask you to let us know that you’re willing to help.
Please register your interest by emailing us at shorehamcommunity@gmail.com with: your name, phone number, availability and general area of interest.
We promise not to deluge you with volunteering opportunities!
