Shoreham school hall celebration day

In 1875 the Shoreham School - now known as the Community Hall - was opened and operated until the end of 1950.

A precious piece of local history with mystery surrounding the piano that once entertained locals

In conjunction with the Flinders District Historical Society, Shoreham Tennis Club and the CFA, we held a celebration on Friday, 12 December 2025- at the Community Hall. This was very well attended by about 80 people , school children included . Past students, notaries such as our Coolart ward Councillor David Gill and Michael Stephens of Warringine ward were in attendance. Susie Utting a local resident, Historical Society member and Author released her commemorative book celebrating Shoreham’s long history. The event included afternoon tea which was a welcome restorative on such a hot afternoon. Children were given sausages , cool drinks , fruit and icy poles then they were off to tennis …such energy. The event was catered for by SCA and the Flinders Historical Society.

Our Vice President Sue Boggan received an honour for Her tireless efforts in overseeing the environmental protection and beautification of Shoreham for so many years . Resident Melody Doleman received recognition for Her many years of service to the CFA as Mum of the Auxiliary which supports not only the CFA during fire events but is instrumental in organising all social events such as the annual Christmas BBQ.

If anyone knows the whereabout of the lost piano – we would also be delighted to hear from you. kristen@rusbar.com.au

The community hall as it is now known.

The community hall is used for many different things including an indoor market for local produce.
